Becta Self Review Framework and ICT Mark

Becta’s self-review framework is designed to help you evaluate your current use of ICT and plan future improvements to the way technology is used in learning and teaching.  It can help ensure that your school’s investment in ICT is fit for purpose and you make best use of the resources available.

Freely accessed through an online tool, the framework is made up of eight elements and linked to the national standards for ICT. It offers your school a straightforward process for identifying strengths and areas for development in current ICT use. After allowing you to benchmark your school’s capabilities against established best practice, the tool develops an action plan to help move forward.

For more information about the Becta Self Review Framework visit the Becta website.

You can begin using the Becta matrix online tool by visiting and registering at the Self Review Framework home page.

Reward your success
Once your school has reached a certain level on the framework, you have the option to apply for the ICT Mark, a national quality accreditation which celebrates achievement in the use of ICT in working towards whole-school improvement. You may also want to enter for Becta’s ICT Excellence Awards, which are closely aligned to the self-review framework and offer further recognition.

ICT Mark success

Congratulations to Plaistow Primary School who have become the first Newham school to achieve the ICT Mark. Peter Willett (ICT Manager) and Neil Carpenter (Head Teacher) were presented with their award at the BETT 2007 Exhibition.
